Battle of the Contracts

I just had a conference call with Thomas, the German Director, and Rahul, the Indian Manager awhile ago, and we basically discussed the job function and renumeration package.

Now I have two job offers. Two contracts in my hand right now.

I have to decide on what to accept by tomorrow.

Company A

Advantages:

(1) This company is big! They have offices all over the world! I've known this company since I started working for Petron.

(2) The job function I'd be having will be somewhat similar to what I used to do in Petron. Magiging trabaho ko ang pag-oversee ng operations in terms of facilities and equipment. Pati waste management at pest control, ihahandle ko.

(3) Supervisory ang level ko. I'd be having my own staff. Staff na puro mga basurero at janitors. *LOLz*

(4) Exxon ang ihahandle kong account. Petrochemical na naman! Hindi na talaga ako nalayo sa gasolina.

Disadvantages:

(1) I'd be assigned, not in mainland Singapore but in one of the islands. Jurong Island is where the petrochemical companies are located.

(3) Contractual ako dito for three years, then there's an option to renew for another year. There's a probation period of three months.

(4) Six days a week ang pasok ko dito.

(5) There's a lot of pressure and stress in this kind of job. I should know kasi ganyan ang naging trabaho ko dati.

But this could be an advantage also, at least hindi ako gagastos sa damit.

COMPANY B

Advantages:

(1) The basic salary that they're offering is actually a little higher compared to what's being offered by Company A. What I like about it is the opportunity to earn much more as a commission scheme is also included in the package. I could earn an additional 40%-60% of my basic salary every month. Magkakaroon din kasi ako ng targets/quotas.

(2) The job function is quite interesting, although babalik na naman ako sa dati kong trabaho: Recruitment. Pero it would be a combination of Sales Research and Recruitment.

(3) The position would require less pressure and less stress compared to that of Company A.

(7) I'd be regularized after 3 months probationary period, unlike the other offer na contractual ako.

Disadvantages:

(1) This company is definitely much smaller than Company A. I was told that they're big in Germany, but they just started their Singapore operations 2 to 3 years ago.

(2) I'm quite uncertain about my career path, if ever I'd be accepting this job.

**********

Masaya ako kasi at long last, magkaka-work na ko dito! At dalawa pa ang job offers! But right now, I'm afraid to make a wrong decision again. I've done it in the past.
