Dear Boss,
This letter may come as a surprise to you. I’m writing this now as I may not be able to get a chance to talk to you again in private and express my sincerest gratitude and appreciation. Working with you and the rest of the team has been a great experience and, I must say, quite a delight. I’ve learned so much, and it has paved way for me to grow more, not just as a worker, but as an individual as well.
I’d be forever indebted by the kindness that you’ve shown me, and for always believing in me & my potentials. You may not realize this, but I’ve always looked up to you as a leader and as a mentor. I have so much respect for you, and always been impressed by the way you communicate & the way you handle and manage most things. What’s more endearing about you is that you’re such a family-oriented person, a trait which is very Filipino-like. You have a sweet wife and such cute kids, and I could see how important your family is to you.
One of the things that saddens me now is I know I still have a lot of things to learn from you, but I have to face this painful truth: that my stay with the company has to end. But as you’ve said, due to the difficult times now, you really have to make this decision, which I fully understand and respect. I know that your main responsibility is to look into the company’s welfare, and letting me go is just one of the sacrifices that you have to make.
I will definitely miss the whole team. Not only I have maintained good working relationships with each and every one of you, but I have also cultivated wonderful friendships as well that are definitely worth keeping.
I fervently believe that the company, which I’ve learned to love, will be able to endure and surpass this crisis. I know it’s quite tough, but as Gene Kranz of the Apollo 13 Mission once said, “Failure is not an option.”
Again, thank you.
Best regards,
The Gasoline Dude
